16 wineries fill the landscape of the West Kelowna, where you’ll find everything from impressive architectural marvels, incredible vineyard dining experiences, a variety of unique events, beuatiful vineyard views, and family-owned quaint tasting rooms bursting with personality.
The soils here in West Kelowna are very unique in that they are loaded with mineral deposits as well as glacial till and volcanic rock as the vineyards in area are derived from Mt. Boucherie which is the remnant of an ancient volcano. Add some extra warm sunshine and you have all the makings for vineyards to thrive here.
When we took over our B&B in 2001 there was just 4 wineries in West Kelowna- Mission Hill, Quails Gate, Mt Boucherie and Little Straw. Today with 16 wineries there is a winery and a wine for everyone.
Within a 10 – 15 minute walk of our B&B you can visit – Little Straw, Volcanic Hills, Mt Boucherie, Beaumont, and Grizzly Wineries. If you enjoy walking you can easily add Black Swift, Quails Gate, The Hatch and/or Mission Hill to your walking route. To find the quainter tasting rooms of West Kelowna take a short drive up to Off The Grid, Kalala, Ciao Bella, The Gallery, and Niche Wineries.
Don’t forget to include a winery dining experience- You will find delicious food, 5-star dining, and incredible views at Quails Gate’s Old Vines Patio, Mission Hill’s The Terrace Restaurant, and The Modest Butcher at Mt Boucherie. More dining can be found at Angel Share at Crown and Thieves, Viva Italiano at Volcanic Hills and 31 Charkay at Grizzly Winery.
